Update Forms from Other Forms

Introduction:

This article outlines the process for updating an existing form using a source form. Doing so helps minimize duplicate data entry, saves time when completing forms, and reduces the likelihood of errors. To follow these steps, you will need two forms already created with identical fields populated in both, as well as access to the Mirata Admin tool.

Admin Steps:

Step-by-step
  1. Navigate to the Admin tool and click on the Submission query icon on the left hand side.

  2. Create a submission query by clicking the 'add submission query' button in the top right.

  3. Name the submission query and add a definition query parameter.

    + sign > Definition > Select Definition (the target form you wish to update) and save

  4. Add the fields you wish to update the form with.

    Ensure you named the inputs the same as on the form.

Designer Steps:

Step-by-step
  1. Navigate to your workflow designer in the form you wish to copy fields to. The target form.

  2. Click on the 'create' workflow step

    If you want this information to only be visible after a certain point in the forms workflow select the transition step you would like it to show up on.

  3. Navigate to the dialogue tab

  4. Add the fields you wish to copy over into this form into the dialogue box.

    Ensure that you name the fields something distinct so that you can recognize them later on.

  5. Create a form to form update for the fields that you wish to be updated on your form.

  6. Save your form

  7. Navigate back to your designer and select the Source form, and navigate to the workflow tab.

  8. Click on the transition step you wish for the update to rigger on. Select > update other form > the + sign.

  9. Find the target form you wish to copy to and select it.

  10. After you have the target form selected, click "local", and click the transition you wish to copy the information into.

  11. Finally select the submission query you created, and begin mapping the fields you wish to pull into the target form.

  12. Save your form and test this in the inbox.
